Presenters: Kerrie Collings-Silvey and Karen Belbin
A Balint Group is a small experiential, educational group in which participants meet to discuss difficult or troubling cases. In a Balint Group the focus for the discussion is on the emotional and dynamic aspects of the case, particularly in understanding the client-practitioner relationship. The work of the group deepens our emotional understanding of those who consult us, of ourselves as mental health professionals, and of what is occurring between us. It enhances our competence in working therapeutically within the relationship and supports the growth of reflective functioning.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to Balint Group work. The opportunity to participate in a group will follow together with time for reflection and discussion of the small group process. It is open to any mental health practitioner engaged in ongoing client work where relationships are formed as part of their counselling or therapy or case-work approach.
The workshop program along with some reading material will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.
