EMDR therapy has demonstrated effectiveness for the treatment of PTSD. However, controversy still exists as to the effectiveness of the process, compared to CBT. This presentation will outline the basic EMDR processes, model, and evidence supporting its use in counselling.
Presenter: Anthony Bligh, B. Psych (Hons.) M. Psych (Clin.) MAPS, is an endorsed Clinical Psychologist and has been a registered Psychologist for 14 years. He has worked in Metro North Mental Health for 15 years in clinical, managerial and research roles. He has been providing counselling for more than 17 years in a variety of settings, including mental health, alcohol and drug services, homeless hostels (UK), private rehabilitation clinics, hospitals, telephone counselling services, and private clinics. Anthony is an accredited EMDR therapist with EMDRAA (EMDR association of Australia) having completed extensive EMDR training in Australia and internationally. He regularly utilises EMDR in his private practice and has also utilised this therapy in public alcohol and drug treatment settings.
WHERE: Relationships Australia 159 St Pauls Terrace Spring Hill on the corner of St Pauls Tce and Warren St opposite the Villa Maria Church Nursing Home. There is some parking under the building and free parking in Warren St and other side streets after 5pm BUT please note that St Pauls Terrace is a clearway and if you park there you will be towed.
