QCA is a professional association for counsellors and psychotherapists established in 1973 to provide a voice for members. We are a constituent Member Association of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia Inc. (PACFA).
PACFA is a national peak body for counselling and psychotherapy associations in Australia representing the profession to communities and government, and developing the evidence-base relating to the art and practice of counselling and psychotherapy.
PACFA promotes the development of the practice of counselling and psychotherapy, and respects and supports the diversity of approaches within the profession. PACFA provides a united forum for counselling and psychotherapy associations to foster professional identity for practitioners, support research and training, and ensure public accountability to consumers, the public and government.
Clinical members of QCA, who meet the requirements of PACFA, can apply for inclusion on the PACFA Register in the General Counselling / Psychotherapy Section. Provisional registration is available to QCA Provisional Members.
Graduates of counselling or psychotherapy programs that meet the requirements of the PACFA Training Standards who are still working towards completing the 200 clients hours linked to 50 hours of supervision which are required for provisional registration, can now apply for listing on the PACFA Register as an Intern.
